Quilt Care
Caring for Your Heirloom Quilt
Thank you for welcoming a Handmade by Ashley quilt into your home.
Every quilt is thoughtfully handcrafted using premium fabrics and carefully stitched to be enjoyed for years to come. With proper care, your quilt can become a treasured heirloom to be loved by future generations.
Before You Enjoy Your Quilt
Every quilt is prewashed before it leaves by studio. This gives your quilt its soft, cozy feel and removes any marking tools or residual lint from the quilting process.
Because cotton, bamboo, and wool are natural fibers, a slight amount of wrinkling after washing is completely normal and adds to the charm of a handmade quilt.
Washing Instructions
- Machine wash separately in cold water on a gentle or delicate cycle.
- Use a mild, color-safe detergent.
- Avoid bleach or harsh chemicals.
- Avoid fabric softeners.
- Do not overload the washing machine.
Drying Instructions
- Tumble dry on low heat.
- Remove promptly after drying.
- If preferred, lay flat or hang to air dry.
Avoid high heat, which may cause unnecessary shrinkage and/or wear over time.
Ironing
If desired, use a wam iron with steam on the cotton setting.
Avoid ironing directly over decorative stitching for extended periods.
Storage
To preserve your quilt's beauty:
- Store in a cool, dry place.
- Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight.
- Do not store in plastic containers or plastic bags for long periods, as natural fibers benefit from airflow.
- If storing for an extended time, wrap the quilt in a clean cotton sheet or place it in a breathable cotton storage bag.
Everyday Use
Your quilt was made to be used and enjoyed.
Whether it's wrapped around a new baby, displayed in a nursery, shared during family movie nights, or passed from one generation to the next, each wash and every memory becomes part of its story.
